![]() In 1987, the painter Elizabeth Organ first opened the house to the public. Her intention was, that the house should neither be strictly a museum nor an Art Gallery. She created a series of rooms - a home that demonstrates what is of quality in contemporary art and design. This was in the setting of continuity with the past. The old and the new can be seen living happily together. Creative makers, whether artists or craftspeople, have been discovered not only from within Wales but throughout the British Isles and from abroad. Jewellery to sculpture, the modestly priced to the expensive, can all be found together but in a context that includes the spirit of Kilvert, which is the sensitive response to quality, wherever it may be found. A new endeavor has been the creation of the 'Art of Living Fairs'. These are held in the grounds of grand houses and aim to bring the maker and general public together in an atmosphere of celebration.
![]() The artist in residence at the Kilvert Gallery is the portrait painter, Eugene Fisk. In his work he seeks to include something of the religious icon with the language of 20th Century Art.
